The welfare of students is of vital importance to us at Eltham Primary. Our aim is to: - Provide a supportive environment which enhances educational opportunities for all students and fosters the personal and social development of all students.
- Ensure maximum learning, recognising and nurturing individual’s needs and abilities.
- Identify students at risk and ensure appropriate measures are made available to address their needs
- Establish appropriate committees and organisational structures that will facilitate opportunities for all students to reach their potential
A student welfare committee consisting of the Assistant Principal and teachers in representing Levels 1 - 4 meet to develop programs in response to school needs in the areas of social development. The school operates a sequential social skills program for all students Prep - Grade 6 inclusive. A speech pathologist and educational psychologist visit the school each week to consult with the Assistant Principal. This enables individual student programmes to be developed and implemented. Parents requiring assistance for their child in relation to the speech pathologist & DEECD child psychologist are asked to contact the Assistant Principal, Elaine Turpin regarding both social and curriculum needs
A Student Code of Conduct and specific school rules ensures that students are able to work and play free from harassment or harm.
